Understanding your child’s emotional world

I’m writing to you from my little corner of the world—my home in Tampa,

right at the start of summer… which, for me, is easily the busiest time of the school year.

A few days ago, my daughter had a meltdown.

She was convinced that I prefer one of her siblings.

And if I’m being honest, in our home we all know she’s actually the one who receives the most attention—by far.

So I found myself wondering…

What is she really trying to tell me?

What’s actually bothering her?

What’s happening beneath the surface?

Sometimes I feel like a big part of motherhood is trying to understand someone who doesn’t yet have the words to explain what they’re feeling.

And that’s where we get frustrated.

Because we’re doing the best we can.

We try to support them, guide them, teach them…

but there are moments when we simply don’t know what to do.

And it’s easy to think it’s a lack of patience.

Or that we’re just exhausted (because we are).

Or that somehow, we’re not doing it right.

Over time—and also through astrology—I came to understand something that shifted the way I see my children:

Each of them experiences their emotions in a completely different way.

And what works for one doesn’t necessarily work for another.

This week, I’ve been talking about this on Instagram:

the Moon as a map of the emotional world.

What they need to feel safe, supported, and at ease.

Understanding my children’s Moon gave me insights that, even though they were right in front of me, I wouldn’t have seen with this level of clarity.

Not perfectly.

But much more consciously.

If this is something you feel would help you better understand your children,

I also offer personalized guidance around this.

But beyond that, there’s one idea that changed everything for me:

Not all children need the same from us.

And very often, what we interpret as “behavior”

is simply an emotional need we’re not yet able to see.

When you begin to look at it this way,

you may not have all the answers…

but you stop fighting what’s happening,

and start understanding it.

Does any of this resonate with what you're experiencing?

I'd love to hear from you.

Ale
